ALICIA BOSTIC
MORE ABOUT ME
I got my start in broadcasting with the help of the Washington Redskins, where I worked as an intern during the 2014 season (the year they went 4-12... yikes!) While the wins were hard to come by for the team, everyday was a chance for me to grow whether I was learning to shoot, edit, or how to keep my head on a swivel in the end zone to avoid being tackled.
Determined to make my big dream a reality, I took an internship in the big apple with CBS Sports Network. As a remote production intern, I got a glimpse into the hustle of producing live sports and experienced first hand what a fast-paced sports environment felt like… for eight weeks at least. I researched game notes, logged footage, and even shadowed Jim Nantz at the Travelers cup but the most valuable bit of this internship was a piece of advice from my boss, Steve Karasik. During a meeting he told me, “no matter what you do, find something you’re passionate about then be good at it.”
Upon graduating from Clemson University (Go Tigers!!) I accepted a position with NBC Washington that brought me back to where it all began… During a season of unbearable DC traffic, late nights at the FedEx Field and working with the some of the best in the biz, I made the move from behind-the-scenes to in front of the camera. I had the chance to interview Kirk Cousins, experience a freezing MNF game, appear on a TV show as an analyst, and more! Needless to say, it was a full circle moment getting to make a name for myself covering the team where my dad did the same 20 years prior.
Chasing after your dream is hard… but it is easier when you have mentors like Laura Okmin and Carol Maloney in your corner. I’ve been blessed to learn under these two smart lady bosses, who have taught me how to prepare for interviews, ask the tough questions, build relationships and most importantly be my true, authentic self on camera and in life.
